Section 28 – FWD Fuse Lower Structure – 14 Hours

This section mainly concerned itself with the floor of the fuselage near the firewall. It first consisted of dimpling skins (of course). Some skin stiffeners were also added by back riveting.

Stainless steel sections were put in between the two bottom skins. These immediately surround the muffler and exhaust which exits the rear of the engine below the firewall. These parts are riveted with a seam of proseal in between.

The firewall completed in the previous section is lowered on top of the shroud and bottom skins. I didn’t take a lot of photos here because it was a bit complicated. Pilot buddy Chuck came by to help in these crucial steps and to supervise my work.

This is looking at the top side of the assembly.

And the bottom side of the assembly.

A few minutes more work saw the forward fuselage spar attached.

Some more moving things around and squinting, you can see even more of a shape of an airplane.

This section was closed out by attaching the battery holder (upper left), some passthroughs for wires, and the high tech cabin heating system.

The high tech cabin heating system consists of pulling a lever, which opens a flap, which allows engine heat to come inside the cabin. It cannot get more simple than that.
