The Year in Past

Yeah, I know, it has been a heck of a long time. Nearly a year in fact. So, lets bring you up to date.

After the first flight, I proceeded to fly off the Phase 1 testing while following the EAA Flight Test Manual. Rather than just fly for 40 hours with no goals, the flight test manual described a specific flight test plan to test for different characteristics in flight. I completed this in early October, and at that point, was able to carry passengers and fly to places outside of my prescribed flight test area.

A couple of highlights for the end of 2024:

  • A few images of Kilo Bravo in its bare form

  • Taking Kirsten for her first flight which was to a lunch in Galveston

  • Giving rides to friends and family including niece (helicopter pilot) Miranda, brother Steve and daughter Kelsey

Perhaps biggest event to occur since the first flight was taking the airplane to paint. I dropped it off at the end of December, and picked it up early April. The results were stunning. I think it has tremendous ramp appeal, and I would like to thank Tres Fracasso of Optimum Paint Works for putting in such great effort. I was his first Texas customer, and I think his care and attention to detail was top notch.

The following are some photos of the paint process over the few months it was in the shop including its last flight as a unpainted silver bullet.

Lastly, I brought the airplane home to its new hangar located at West Houston Airport (KIWS).
