Just a quick update before I take about 10 days off. I am headed to Oshkosh for the EAA AirVenture this weekend so it will be a while before I pound rivets again.
This section was finishing up the spars before the skins were attached. First the Tip ribs had their skins attached, the rear spars had ribs attached, and then the elevator horns were rivets to the front spars. Not a lot of steps but a lot of rivets.
Nut plate doublers were riveted to the forward spar. The nut plate holds the attachment point where the elevator attaches to the horizontal stabilizer.

The squeezer was used often in these steps. This is where I riveted the tip rib skin to the….well….tip ribs.

The white powder coated parts are the elevator horns. There are two: one on each side.

Both front spars, tip ribs, and elevator horns are ready to go.

Half of each elevator rib was riveted to each rear spar. Next step is to attach the skins.

And lastly, the overhead fan is a life saver in this south Texas heat. It actually makes it bearable inside the garage. It won’t be long before this open space contains an empennage.
